Just awarded an International Wine Challenge Silver Medal, we're delighted to have taken stock of this incredible debut Cuvée from the Redfold Vineyard in Nutbourne, West Sussex, close to one of the best known English producers, Nyetimber, by the South Downs.
This is the maiden release for this vineyard which was planted by husband and wife team, Charles and Wendy Outhwaite QC. assisted at their vineyard by South African winemaker Kobus Louw and Owen Elias. Planted as recently as 2008, this is the first crop from their vines and has received overwhelming critical acclaim, including this by Jancis Robinson:
‘Classic recipie with Chardonnay predominating, based on the maiden 2010 vintage….Dosage just 7g/l. More density and less aggressive acidity than many English sparkling wines. Good balance and no excess sweetness. Well made… A promising debut 16/20’
