It's a tough job....

But as they say, someone's got to do it! Wine tasting, mmmm, you could say it's pretty much the best perk of being an independent wine retailer. I mean, how else are we going to select an exciting and diverse range of wines to suit all tastes and budgets? Well, you might wonder how on earth do you begin to decide what to source. To be honest, we've always just gone with our hearts and of course our palates; it has to begin with personal preferences, if you're going to sell a wine, you'd better be passionate about it!

And yes, we do make notes at various tasting events and quite a few new wines hit the shelves via this route, but of course the best way to enjoy a bottle is at home with a good meal, some friends and a completely unbiased attitude. As you might appreciate, this isn't always the most practical way to source your range - but it's jolly nice for those little top-ups when you've got shelf spaces to fill! Personally, my favourite highlight of the wine tasting calendar is the Champagne Bureau's Annual Tasting - usually held in some fabulous hall around Westminster or Whitehall, what's not to enjoy?! I find it 'therapeutically enlivening' and an absolute privilege to attend - even if I am just cruising the Vintage Champagne tables to double-check my preferences from last year.

If wine sampling sounds just too good to be true, and something you think you might enjoy with some friends in tow, then why not have a look at the wines we've selected to feature in our fabulous sampling machines:
