Two words which have lingered in my thoughts following last week’s visit to Redfold Vineyards in West Sussex, home to Ambriel Sparkling wines. Having stocked Ambriel Classic Cuvee and Blanc de Noirs pretty much since their release, it was a real treat to be given a private tour of this pristine estate by owners Charles & Wendy Outhwiate. On a stunningly beautiful autumnal day, we wandered the rolling vineyards, winery, bottling plant and even the on-site laboratory!
There’s no disputing the fact that such care and effort alongside a totally uncompromising attitude to making their wines, results in exceptionally fine Cuvées. We even managed to bring home a few bottles of (their unreleased) first edition Brut Rosé which we tasted a few weeks ago and decided was absolutely superb!
Meanwhile, watch this space - we’re hoping Wendy and Charles will pay us a little visit pre-Christmas to do an exclusive, and believe me, unmissable, tasting here in Cowes……
